Weird Wobbles: Some Weird Ramblings from a Childless Woman…

WOBBLE WARNING:  We’re talking about “weird wobbles” today.  I’m not sure if anything in this post will cause you to wobble.  I talk about my best friend who passed away.  I talk about cleaning products.  And celery.  Just know that if something weird causes you to wobble, it’s okay, fabulous one…

If you are a regular here at Not So Mommy…, you know that I talk about “wobbles.”  I didn’t invent this terminology.  I borrowed it from our friends across the pond.  The imagery of something causing you to lose balance, to feel unsteady, to wobble…  Well, it resonates with me.  And it seems to resonate with many of you, too.

Also, if you are a regular, you know that my best friend passed away nearly four years ago.  Recently, as I was cleaning my glass coffee table, I thought about her.  And it caused me to wobble.  Even now, my eyes are tearing up as I so desperately want to talk to her…  Yes, cleaning my coffee table caused me to wobble!  Weird?!  Not really…

Weird Wobbles…

Remembering…

You see, I vividly remember a conversation I had with my best friend about cleaning.  She was asking me how I clean my glass, windows, and mirrors because she was struggling.  I told her about the aerosol glass cleaner that Dane had discovered and the fact that I used it with microfiber cloths.  It wasn’t perfect, but it was the best thing I had found.

During that conversation, we also talked about how we cleaned our floors.  She was exhausted from trying to keep up with the puppy fur.  We agreed that Swiffers weren’t perfect, but they were the best thing either of us had found.  We also were both hesitant to use the Swiffer wet wipes, as we didn’t want the puppies walking on it and licking their paws.

Wobbling…

A few weeks ago…  When I had my “weird wobble,” I was cleaning my glass coffee table with my new Norwex cloths and I really, really, really wanted to tell Jennifer that I found an easy and effective way to clean glass!  And without using toxic cleaners!  AND I also discovered a great way to dry mop floors!  PLUS, a way to mop with water only!  I want to talk to my friend about cleaning cleaner.  I want to see how excited she is, knowing she’d LOVE shopping Norwex and would probably host her own Facebook party.  And not being able to share this with her…  Well, it makes me wobble to the point of tears.

Sharing…

Why am I sharing this weird wobble with you, fabulous ones?  Well, first of all, since I can’t share my ah-mazing Norwex finds with Jennifer, I’ve taken to telling everyone about them.  I guess I’m over-compensating!  Second, I want you to know that it’s okay if something “weird” makes you wobble.

Accepting & Embracing…

I mean, there are the triggers that we know will cause us to wobble.  Those that might even send us into a full-blown grief attack.  But there are other things that catch us off-guard.  (I mean, I didn’t expect to cry while cleaning my coffee table.)  A childless friend once told me that celery causes her to wobble.  I can’t remember why.  Personally, I think celery is gross.  So, it doesn’t cause me to wobble.  It just causes me to make a face because I really don’t want to eat it!  But it’s a trigger for her.  Weird?!  Some might think so.  But not to her.  She knows why this gross, green food causes her heartache.

I know I seem to be rambling.  I just want you to know that on this journey—this complicated, lifelong journey—weird things might make you wobble.  And that’s okay.  You are not weird.  (Well, maybe you are…  I am.  I think it’s okay to be a bit weird.  Even desirable.  But that’s a different post!)  Anyway, it’s okay if celery makes you wobble.  Or if cleaning the coffee table with your incredible new cleaning cloths makes you cry.  Or if whatever causes you heartache…

Embrace the weird wobbles, fabulous ones.  They prove you love deep…
